BJC Appoints New Head Of Home Care, Community Services

BJC HealthCare has promoted Joan Magruder, president of St. Louis Children’s Hospital, to a group president role within the health care system, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

In her new role, Magruder will continue to serve as president of Children’s and will also assume executive oversight of BJC’s Home Care and Community Services, which includes its behavioral health, corporate health, home care, hospice and long-term care services as well as the Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis.

Magruder has been president of Children’s since 2013. She previously served as president of Missouri Baptist for seven years. She originally joined BJC in 2000 as vice president of business development, physician services and alternate care sites, which included responsibility for the financial and operational performance of BJC Medical Group, BJC Behavioral Health, BJC Home Care Services and BJC Corporate Health Services.

Magruder came to BJC from Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, where she served as the administrator of the department of surgery, outpatient services, transplantation and the physician group practice.

BJC, the region’s largest employer, reported 2015 net revenue of $4.3 billion.
