Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care Launches “A Cup O’ Kindness” Afternoon Tea Initiative

July 19, 2019

CHICAGO, ILSomething new is brewing. Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care, the principal charity of the Chicago Scots, one of the world’s largest Scottish cultural organizations, is thrilled to announce the launch of their new program, A Cup O’ Kindness. This reoccurring afternoon tea service invites current residents to enjoy a cup of tea while sharing stories with fellow residents and members of the Caledonia Senior Living community.

Prospective families who visit Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care to learn more about Caledonia’s range of outstanding services for consideration for their own loved ones are also invited to stay and enjoy the afternoon tea service. This new initiative will brew beginning Monday, July 22 in Caledonia’s Living Room, at the following times: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3 – 3:45 p.m., Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to Noon, Fridays from 4-5 p.m., along with Saturdays from 3-3:45 p.m., and Sundays from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Patrons and the surrounding neighborhood are also kindly requested to donate a gently used teapot towards the Cup O’ Kindness activation to help add a personal touch to the tea service, encouraging all to share a unique memory regarding their donated teapot and teapot accessories. Patrons can stop by the front desk at Caledonia to donate their teapot and teapot accessories for the initiative. Personal story submissions will be shared across Caledonia’s social channels using the hashtag #shareacupokindness to create a movement of sharing and connecting with the community around us.

“With this new tea time initiative, we hope to encourage everyone to step back from their hectic lives and appreciate the small joys in life, like sipping on an afternoon cup of tea,” said Gus Noble, President of the Chicago Scots. “Listening to others’ personal stories and keeping those stories alive and shared amongst our community is a great way to learn exactly what Caledonia has to offer.”

To spread the news of the Cup O’ Kindness afternoon tea, Caledonia Senior Living will also host pop up afternoon tea services throughout the surrounding neighborhoods. In doing so, Caledonia hopes to build new relationships within the community and help spread the word about their services to families who otherwise may not know where to begin the conversation about senior living options for their relatives.
