Capitol Seniors Housing Breaks Ground on Atria New City in New City, New York

January 28, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. and NEW CITY, NY– Capitol Seniors Housing, a leading senior living investment and development firm, has begun construction on Atria New City, an assisted living and memory care community in the affluent hamlet of New City in Clarkstown, NY. The $30 million, three-story, 70,000-square-foot community with 80 residential suites will be operated by Atria Senior Living. Located at 260 North Main Street just south of Phillips Hill Road, Atria New City is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2020.

“We’re excited and anxious to bring a top-quality senior living community to New City, an amazing community where residents want to live for the remainder of their lives,” said Scott Stewart, Managing Partner of Capitol Seniors Housing. “Residents and visitors of Atria New City will feel as though they’re in an exclusive hotel offering every amenity seniors want and deserve, along with a vibrant social life encouraged by an extraordinary calendar of events, activities and outings.”

Designed by the Meyer Senior Living Studio, Atria New City is a modern, nontraditional senior living community with natural elements of wood and stone on the exterior. Inspired by the Hudson River Valley, the community’s interiors feature fresh, inviting tones of blues, greens and oranges. Entering the community, the lobby’s high ceiling and signature staircase open up to a vast array of amenities and areas for activities and socialization.

Amenities at Atria New City include public and private dining, sports lounge and bistro, club room with fireplace seating, library with area for visiting children, and a multipurpose room for games and activities. Each amenity space is designed with flexibility in mind and access to natural materials and light.

The memory care area is uniquely designed for the needs of its residents, including a warm dining and activity area with large, picturesque windows and a continuous indoor walking loop with a sunroom. Located on five acres, Atria New City will also offer outdoor amenities including patio seating off the dining room, seating areas to visit, and a green space in the rear of the property with walking paths for exercise.

The community will be operated by Atria Senior Living, a top-tier national senior living operator of more than 225 communities, including 28 communities in the state of New York. Atria’s excellent programming for its residents includes its signature events and activities program, Engage Life®, which surveys its community residents to develop opportunities for joy, growth and fulfillment tailored to their interests.

Atria offers an events calendar filled with opportunities based on eight key dimensions of engagement that contribute to a fulfilling life – from book discussions, gardening clubs, exercise classes and games to group outings, volunteer opportunities and art workshops. Atria also encourages residents to stay active and involved by leading classes and events related to their expertise and lifelong passions. Atria New City will be ideally located next door to a U.S. post office and in close proximity to the New City Library, retail, as well as The Hebrew Academy and Woodglen Elementary School.

“New City is an established, distinguished community, and we appreciate area leaders for working with us to bring this project forward,” said Joe McElwee, Principal – Development, Capitol Seniors Housing. “Atria New City is ideal for this community of residents who are accustomed to enjoying the finer things in life.”
