Edgehill Awarded Quality Care Distinction

October 16, 2019

STAMFORD, CTEdgehill in Stamford recently achieved one of the highest designations of quality care and services to its residents – a deficiency-free subacute rehab inspection from the Connecticut Department of Public Health. A deficiency-free survey certifies that all skilled nursing care and services provided at the community meet or exceed the regulatory standards outlined by both the State of Connecticut and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements of participation.

“It feels wonderful to get validation from regulators that we’re doing an incredible job of providing high-quality resident care,” said Chris Barstein, executive director at Edgehill. “This is such a huge accomplishment because very few long-term care communities across the nation are classified as being deficiency-free.”

According to the latest data by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Kaiser Family Foundation, skilled nursing providers across the United States average seven deficiencies.

The rigorous inspections are unannounced and conducted for approximately one week. A thorough review of core criteria, including quality care, safety, administration, food service, nursing care and patient rights, is conducted. The inspection team carefully observes and evaluates all aspects of resident care and skilled nursing procedures and practices, assessing compliance with hundreds of specific state and federal standards. The inspection determined Edgehill was 100% in compliance and therefore, the community was issued a deficiency-free survey rating.

“We are proud to add this distinction to our 20-year tradition of excellence,” said Barstein. “As a senior living pioneer, we remain committed to leading the way in patient care and services in Stamford. I commend the staff on their hard work and dedication to Edgehill’s most valued component – the residents we serve.”

Edgehill is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Stamford with a full continuum of on-site health care—all part of The Edgehill Advantage and Lifecare living.
