Healthe Introduces SunLync Autonomous Lighting Control That Synchronizes with Day-night Cycle

March 8, 2019

COCOA BEACH, FL–Healthe® by Lighting Science has announced the launch of SunLync™, a unique device that autonomously synchronizes Healthe wireless-enabled lighting to the sun’s cycle. SunLync contains a GPS locator that captures local time and continuously broadcasts a system-wide mesh command to all Healthe lights within range. Lights respond by generating the appropriate spectrum and intensity, providing the right light at the right time. The frequent time signal generation from SunLync allows for a subtle response and fluid transition between light settings from the luminaires.

The Verandah at Graywood, a Sunshine Retirement Living community in Lake Charles, LA, recently deployed SunLync in their assisted living and expanded memory care community. Approximately 650 Good Day&Night Downlights are installed in the community and orchestrated by SunLync.

Healthe lighting products are designed with proprietary, engineered spectra technology to deliver circadian wellbeing for occupants of the built environment. The GoodDay® spectrum is blue-enriched at 480 nanometers (nm), which is the peak wavelength for the body’s circadian sensitivity. GoodDay simulates the blue in natural sunlight, helps to increase our alertness and has the potential to improve productivity during the day. The GoodNight® spectrum, which is blue-depleted at 480 nm, promotes the body’s natural response to sunset. It enables a better nights’ sleep relative to conventional lighting.

Today, Healthe products featuring both the GoodDay and GoodNight spectra can be controlled through Bluetooth wireless switches or 0-10V inputs.  With the introduction of SunLync, users can benefit throughout the day from pre-programmed circadian lighting with Healthe’s dynamic spectrum, wireless solutions.

“The addition of SunLync to the Healthe product portfolio increases the benefits provided by these products because, now, the lighting spectrum will change autonomously depending on location and time of the day” says Gene Daniell, Director of Commercial Products for Healthe.  “The spectral transitions enabled by SunLync are seamless, so visual comfort is not compromised.  We remove the hassle for the user and the resulting lighting is tailored for their circadian rhythm.”

With easy installation and no programming required, SunLync suits a variety of 24/7 applications, such as residential homes, senior living facilities, hotels, college campuses and hospitals.  SunLync is ideal for Healthe customers who are looking for automatic, dynamic lighting functionality. Currently, SunLync is available for use with the Good Day&Night™ Downlight and Troffer and will be compatible with the dynamic spectrum SunTrac™ A19 launching soon.
