Lenbrook Acquires Menders Senior Home Care Agency

ATLANTA–Menders, Inc. and Lenbrook, two of Georgia’s renowned senior care organizations, have joined forces. Lenbrook, Atlanta’s premier Life Plan Community located in Buckhead, has purchased Menders, a privately owned, North Metro Atlanta-based home care agency that provides individualized, professional care and assistance to seniors on a long- or short-term basis.
Menders by Lenbrook will serve the Lenbrook community of 480 residences, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and the future expansion Kingsboro at Lenbrook, as well as other clients throughout metro Atlanta.
Before 1985, when Betty Van Gerpen founded Menders, the first licensed home care agency in Georgia, she interned at Lenbrook and worked in every department to understand Lenbrook’s business and customer. Now, she has decided to reduce—but not stop—working and wanted to find the best solution to take her company into the future.
“This acquisition supports our strategic goal to expand our mission by offering quality and flexible services inside and outside of Lenbrook,” said Chris Keysor, president and CEO of Lenbrook. “Both Menders and Lenbrook support seniors to be independent, healthy, and personally fulfilled in a way that is most meaningful for them. Additionally, both organizations have a proven track record of delivering excellence.”
Menders by Lenbrook will give Lenbrook residents the same if not more choice and flexibility to receive support when and where they need it. As an integral part of Lenbrook, Menders by Lenbrook will improve accountability and the availability of back-up caregivers.
Lenbrook residents will continue to be able to select their own credentialed outside personal care provider who is right for him or her. However, choosing a Menders by Lenbrook provider means the caregiver will be fully credentialed according to Lenbrook’s standards, overseen by Lenbrook’s Health Services team, and oriented to Lenbrook’s culture and expectations.

Betty Van Gerpen and Chris Keysor are working together closely to ensure a seamless transition for Menders’ employees, Lenbrook’s residents, and other clients. Van Gerpen will remain part of the Menders by Lenbrook organization for the near future.
