Mills River to Become Home to North Carolina’s Newest Retirement Community

May 1, 2019

MILLS RIVER, NC–Legacy at Mills River, a new proposed continuing care retirement community with an innovative, forward-thinking approach to senior living, is now accepting pre-construction reservation deposits for residents to reserve their homes. Opening in 2021, Legacy is advancing the concept of senior living through its Equity Model—giving its residents the option to not only live in their own home, but to own it—in turn creating “next generation retirement living”.

Under the leadership of David Ammons, CEO of Retirement Living Associates (RLA) and Developer and Operations Manager of Legacy, residents will have the very best a senior living community can offer. RLA is partnering with Beverly-Grant, the premier North Carolina contractor specializing in healthcare and commercial development, to build a variety of living options and amenities that include:

  • 210 customized independent living homes
  • Continuum of care with assisted living and nursing options
  • A physician-staffed health and wellness center
  • Eco-conscious LEED standards in construction and maintenance
  • Transportation services and 24-hour security
  • Picturesque walking trails and fishing lake

With an American Arts & Crafts style of architecture, residents can customize their homes to their liking—choosing every finish and fixture. Nestled among the natural glories of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, residents will live a life of luxury while creating their own legacy for future generations. This unique ownership model with customization options for senior living puts Legacy at the forefront of desirable retirement communities in North Carolina and beyond—without the wait list that many others have.

“Simply put, Legacy is a step above other retirement communities. It will be an exceptional place to live and our ownership concept will allow our residents to create the life they want while building equity,” says Ammons. “They will become invested members of a community that will not only benefit them but their families as well. We are proud of what we can provide for our future residents and it’s a model we hope will soon transform the industry, nationwide.”
