New Executive Director to Lead The Village at Mariner’s Point

September 25, 2018

WALTHAM, MA–For Doron Kathein, seniors are one of our greatest assets, which is what drew him from hospitality to senior care more than 13 years ago. Now, the Fairfield, CT, resident is pleased to be joining The Village at Mariner’s Point, a premier assisted living and memory care community in East Haven, CT. Most recently, Kathein successfully managed The Village’s sister community in Brighton, MA, for Benchmark, a leading provider of senior living and aging-well services in the Northeast.

“Over the last two years, Doron has been a tremendous asset to Chestnut Park at Cleveland Circle,” says Kathy Hooker, regional director of operations for Benchmark. “I am confident in his ability to advance our mission to elevate human connection as well as effectively lead this next chapter for The Village, and ensure the best possible care for our residents.”

Kathein had a long career in hospitality managing hotels in Israel, New York City and Beverly Hills before transitioning to senior care. He served as executive director for Esplanade Senior Living in White Plains, NY, for 11 years prior to joining Chestnut Park in 2016. In his free time, he lectures at schools, churches and temples on the topic of Middle East conflicts and enjoys camping with his wife and three kids.

“Although I’ve loved working in the Boston area, I’m very excited to be able to help seniors and families in my own backyard here in Connecticut,” says Kathein. “I’ve drawn a lot of experience from my varied background and look forward to introducing fresh ideas to the community as well as connecting our residents to who and what  matters most to them, whether it be to their family members and fellow residents or their unique interests.”

The Village at Mariner’s Point is a grand, seaside community providing individualized assisted living and memory care for all stages of dementia supported by Benchmark’s effective, award-winning Mind and Memory approach; a robust activities program; experienced staff; and a host of on-site amenities.
