Oakmont Senior Living Culinary Teams Competing for a Slice of the Pie

December 11, 2019

WINDSOR, CA–Oakmont Senior Living is known for its first-rate culinary program. This holiday season, the senior living company is challenging its 31 community culinary teams to bake and sell the most pies and cakes to raise money for Alzheimer’s-related organizations.

What’s on the line? Bragging rights for a year and being named the Oakmont community that receives the biggest slice of the fundraising pie!

Since November 11 and through December 28, Oakmont Senior Living communities are baking and selling delicious made-from-scratch pies and cakes in a concerted effort to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and find a cure. The choices include Homemade Roasted Pumpkin Pie, Vanilla Bean Cranberry Bundt Cake with Orange Rum Glaze, and Dutch Apple Pie with Roasted Pecan and Oatmeal Streusel.

Last year, 692 pies were sold, and sales from this annual competition produced about $3,400 in donations to Alzheimer’s-related organizations across California and Nevada. This year, Oakmont Senior Living intends to surpass last year’s results. Each of the 31 communities is charged with selling at least 25 baked items. Oakmont of Fair Oaks led the sales last year with 130 pies.

Rina Younan, vice president of culinary services for Oakmont Management Group, is leading the charge in promoting the company’s annual holiday bake sale.

“We can do this. Every community will be involved, and it’s just a friendly competition between the communities. This event helps to raise money for Alzheimer’s and treats our residents and guests to a homemade cake or pie that they can enjoy with friends and family for the holidays,” Younan said.

Oakmont Senior Living is a recognized leader in the retirement industry. Residents receive customized care services delivered in luxurious, resort-style settings with an impressive array of five-star amenities and compassionate team members.
