Presby’s Inspired Life To Expand Rydal Park Campus

April 18, 2017

LAFAYETTE HILL, PA–Presby’s Inspired Life is looking to the future in meeting the ever-growing demand of housing for people 62 and better in the greater Philadelphia market. The organization, which offers independent living, continuing care and affordable housing in more than 30 communities, is announcing an expansion project of its Rydal Park community located in Jenkintown.

The expansion, named Rydal Waters, will add 85 two-bedroom, two-bath, beautifully appointed cottages with garages on property, directly above the Rydal Park campus near Susquehanna Road and Rydal Road.

Additionally, expansion plans will include a clubhouse with a fitness center; multipurpose space with fireplace and audio/visual capabilities; cocktail lounge; outdoor, heated swimming pool; fire pit; outdoor grilling area; and much more. The site will also feature a dog park and walking trails. Residents of Rydal Waters will have access to everything offered at Rydal Park, including dining venues, activity areas, programming and more. Likewise, Rydal Park residents will have access to the amenities offered at the Rydal Waters campus.

“Rydal Waters is the result of market surveys and listening to prospective residents in the area — bringing them the type of housing they’re seeking,” said Judee M. Bavaria, president and CEO of Presby’s Inspired Life. “Our location is very desirable, and the cottages provide for an independent lifestyle with access to all of the services and amenities that we offer.”

Marketing of Rydal Waters is already underway, with an Expression of Interest campaign for individuals to sign up and learn more about the expansion development.

Construction of Rydal Waters will begin once 70 percent of the residences are pre-sold. Architectural work on the expansion is being handled by Stewart and Conners Architects, PLLC, and Warfel Construction Company has been selected as the construction manager for the project.

Current estimates for construction of the cottage homes and clubhouse is between $45 million and $50 million. When complete, the project’s total costs will be approximately $75 million.

During the construction phase, Rydal Waters will create an estimated 175 construction jobs.

“Presby’s Inspired Life has a long history in the Philadelphia region,” added Bavaria. “This expansion fits perfectly within our mission of providing exceptional living experiences for older adults.”
