Silverado and Eversound Partner to Solve Hearing Loss at Senior Living Communities

January 22, 2018

BOSTON, MA–Eversound, the provider of hearing technology and resident engagement solutions for senior living communities, has announced its partnership with Silverado, which operates leading memory care communities in eight states.

Eversound designs and develops proprietary audio technologies which help everyone hear clearly during movies, presentations and other group activities. Their patented wireless headphone system is specifically tuned to the needs of seniors and provides an enhanced listening experience compared to conventional hearing aids.

As part of the partnership, Silverado will be rolling out Eversound to all 36 of their communities. “Making meaningful personal connections is a cornerstone of Silverado’s care philosophy, and we believe that Eversound makes it easier to overcome the barriers hearing impairment can create for our range of engagement programs,” said Kathy Greene, svp, program and services integration of Silverado.

“We’re very excited to be adopting Eversound’s technology as a way to add a new dimension to the engagements our residents enjoy, assisting us in our mission to enrich their lives as they face the challenges of dementia,” Greene added.

So why Eversound? As many program directors find, they spend hours planning and preparing entertaining programs, only to be discouraged by the number of residents who fail to show up or are disengaged at events. The issue may be as simple as this: residents are struggling to hear the content being shared. Eversound’s group listening system, which is designed specifically for older adults and improves quality of life through enhanced audio, provides a solution to this issue faced by every senior living community.

“While hearing aids can be helpful, they’re often overly expensive, easy to lose and challenging to operate for users who lack manual dexterity. We believe that beautiful, easy-to-use audio products can be the answer, and our team is excited to deliver high fidelity sound to large audience members for less than the cost of one premium hearing aid,” said Jake Reisch, CEO and co-founder of Eversound.

“We are very excited to participate in this partnership with Silverado. The dramatic difference of giving the gift hearing is incredible for both the staff and residents,” continued Matt Reiners, vp of customer impact and co-founder of Eversound. “The results are automatic, and as a result the morale of both the staff and residents is significantly impacted.

“Hearing loss is a natural part of the aging process, but when it is left unaddressed, it has been linked to mental decline, social isolation and depression,” Reiners said. “With the 65+ population nearly doubling by 2050, we are excited to support one of the top leading senior living communities to address such a critical need.”

Reisch, Reiners and co-founder Devin Jameson were named among Forbes 30 Under 30 in Consumer Tech in November 2017. They had been dubbed The Headphone Guys after they first created a pair of headphones for silent discos They then realized headphones could serve more than just music-oriented youth—they could also develop a better pair to help seniors hear better and become more engaged in senior living communities.

Eversound designed the new ergonomic wireless headphones for those 75 and up to help combat social isolation and improve quality of life. A graduate of Cornell University’s eLab Accelerator, Eversound launched in November 2016 and has already provided more than 30,000 older adults with access to quality sound.
