Synzi’s Telehealth App and Virtual Care Platform Helps Excelin Conduct Virtual Visits and Protect Their Patients and Staff
ST. PETERSBURG, FL–Synzi, a leading technology company, has announced that Excelin Home Health has launched the use of Synzi’s telehealth app and virtual care platform to safely care for their patients and staff in rural and central Texas, Houston, Sacramento, San Diego, and the California Bay areas.
Excelin was interested in proactively using technology to gain efficiencies in care while continuing to provide excellent patient support and customer service. With twelve business units operating in Texas and California, Excelin offers skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, home health aide, and medical social worker services.
To help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Excelin implemented Synzi’s virtual care communication platform and telehealth apps to address the patient burden of hospitals and physicians. Synzi’s platform was selected for its HIPAA-compliant video and messaging capabilities. As a result, Excelin has been able to safely continue to provide needed care to patients by conducting virtual visits when in-person visits are restricted by the patient, the family caregiver or the nursing facility.
“At the onset of the pandemic, we quickly recognized that we would not have enough PPE to get through an acute crisis. With Synzi, we are actively protecting our patients and our staff by using video-based virtual visits to effectively care for our patients and driving better outcomes,” said Alicia Marr, CEO, Excelin. “As nursing facilities have increasingly restricted visits during the COVID-19 crisis, Synzi has served as the liaison between our patients and our staff. We have brought family caregivers into the video call using the Synzi platform. This is especially critical and meaningful in hospice to engage family members. The video call allows the family to say goodbye to their loved one while receiving compassion and reassurance from our nurse.”
Synzi’s award-winning communication platform leverages everyday devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops to help post-acute care organizations provide leading-edge, cost-contained, patient-centric care. Excelin’s initial platform deployment uses multi-way video to connect patients with Excelin staff on a more frequent basis.
“Patients are extremely anxious about receiving in-home and in-person care during this pandemic,” said Lee Horner, CEO of Synzi. “With Synzi, Excelin is providing their patients with frequent video touchpoints to minimize the risk of transmission or infection while improving adherence and overall outcomes.”
With Synzi’s patient and clinician apps, Excelin will also drive better patient understanding and engagement with ongoing messaging about COVID-19 as well as the patient’s condition. These messages help patients manage their condition, access clinicians on-demand, receive the care they need, and lower the risk of rehospitalization.
Synzi offers a patient program management framework that combines video, email and secure messaging communication modalities for healthcare organizations to address specific patient needs easily, efficiently, and seamlessly. Synzi uses a sophisticated platform and configurable framework which automates and optimizes workflows across multiple modalities. This creates more valuable connections and more effective care, while bringing convenience and peace of mind to patients. The company helps enable better performance for healthcare organizations, better access for patients, and better outcomes for all.
