The Many Ways Brightview Senior Living Fights Dementia While Improving Care Across The Country

October 1, 2018

Dr. Doyle will be on the forefront of developing solutions and strategies that focus on better person-centered care, along with representatives from other organizations that work with people living with dementia.

At the same time, Maryland-area Brightview Senior Living communities are raising funds by participating in several of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. Brightview associates recently participated in the walk in Ellicott City on September 22, 2018, and plan to participate in the upcoming Harford/Cecil County walk on October 6th, the Annapolis walk on October 21st, and the Baltimore walk on October 27th. Last year, Brightview Senior Living raised $46,000 for the cause.

“It is a very exciting time, as we work with the Alzheimer’s Association to not only raise funds for research, but to revolutionize the way we care for these unique people,” says Doyle. “Our financial contribution goes a long way, and as part of the panel, we will meet with key stakeholders to see what methods of care work best. Using this information, we will develop standards for all organizations who work with people living with dementia.”

Brightview Senior Living is already on the forefront of caring for people with cognitive impairment. Their innovative program “Mind & Music,” integrates music into the lives of people with dementia, and has been shown to improve mood and attention, create higher quality of life, reduce pain and improve sleep.

“At Brightview Senior Living, residents are supported to lead full, engaged and meaningful lives despite the challenges of living with dementia,” continues Doyle. “Search on YouTube for ‘Brightview We Believe’ to watch a video on our philosophy of caring for our memory care residents.”

Brightview Senior Living has built and manages 35 communities with dementia care neighborhoods, 15 of which are in Maryland. These Wellspring Village neighborhoods are part of larger Brightview communities that may include both independent and assisted living.

A leader and innovator in senior living and dementia care, Brightview Senior Living builds, owns, and manages award-winning communities in eight states along the East Coast: Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
