Tim Lash Named Chief Strategy Officer Of West Health

December 19, 2016

SAN DIEGO–West Health, dedicated to enabling successful aging for our nation’s seniors, announced today that Timothy A. Lash has been named its chief strategy officer. Lash will also continue in his role as executive vice president of successful aging for West Health and president of the West Health Policy Center.

“Tim has been working tirelessly, and with great passion and energy, to develop West Health’s robust successful aging portfolio,” said Shelley Lyford, president and chief executive officer of West Health. “I am very grateful for his leadership and partnership in helping us achieve major milestones this year, including establishing a senior emergency care unit at UC San Diego Health and launching the Gary and Mary West Senior Dental Center – both of which provide older adults with access to care tailored to their needs.”

Since 2015, Lash has overseen the development and execution of West Health’s successful aging portfolio across its outcomes-based philanthropy, applied medical research, and policy and advocacy entities. This work supports the organization’s mission of enabling seniors to successfully age in place with access to high-quality, affordable health and support services that preserve and protect their dignity, quality of life and independence.

As chief strategy officer, Lash will oversee the creation and implementation of innovative strategic initiatives that advance successful aging through the West Health Institute, West Health Policy Center and the Gary and Mary West Foundation. Working alongside the executive leadership team, he will also partner with key stakeholders to develop and prioritize strategies and help determine the appropriate resources needed to advance West Health’s successful aging portfolio.

“We are working to foster and create new and sustainable senior-specific models of care that are backed by research, connected to policy and payment, and valued by seniors and their families,” said Lash. “Our focus is on identifying areas where we can make a meaningful difference, bringing care to where seniors are most comfortable and collaborating with others who share our goals.”

Lash has extensive experience in developing innovative and disruptive healthcare models, establishing collaborations across a diverse group of stakeholders and organizations, creating new growth platforms and executing acquisitions and equity investments. Prior to joining West Health in 2013, he held leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson and several other healthcare companies. Lash earned an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and his bachelor’s in biology from Union College.
