TripleCare Launches Telemedicine Services at Ohio Living Cape May Location

May 7, 2018

NEW YORK & CAPE MAY, Ohio–TripleCare, a national provider of telemedicine-based healthcare services to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), announced effective May 4, 2018, it will launch services at Ohio Living Cape May, a 30-bed SNF in Wilmington, Ohio. Services are being introduced in Cape May’s rehab suites for its long-term care residents.

TripleCare’s services bring physicians directly to patients’ bedsides, virtually. They connect to the facility and residents using advanced technology at times when Ohio Living Cape May’s physicians are not on-site. By providing physician support during their absence, TripleCare will help Ohio Living Cape May become better positioned to reduce hospital transfers and avoid readmissions.

By combining TripleCare’s telemedicine expertise with hands-on assistance from Cape May’s on-site nursing staff, the company’s network of highly trained physicians perform virtual bedside visits and treat residents in place, in real-time. TripleCare’s virtual services make it possible for its physicians to ascertain residents’ conditions and differentiate between those who can be treated on-site versus those who might require a transfer to the hospital.

“By implementing TripleCare’s services, Ohio Living Cape May is demonstrating to the greater community its cutting-edge commitment to patient care and improving outcomes. As the first SNF in the county to deploy telemedicine technology, Cape May is setting new standards of care. They are joining a growing national trend toward adopting telemedicine to address and solve clinical issues,” said Dr. Mary Jo Gorman, TripleCare’s CEO.

“Our capabilities are directly aimed toward mitigating the adverse effects hospitalizations and re-hospitalizations can have on patients. By working in concert with Cape May, together we will strive to treat in place whenever possible to ensure the delivery of quality care to residents and families,” Gorman added.

“Our launch with TripleCare affords us the opportunity to increase the quality of the many services we currently offer to help health care residents and rehab guests avoid being admitted or forced to return to the hospital,” said Brad Reynolds, LNHA, executive director and administrator at Ohio Living Cape May. “TripleCare is able to bridge the gap during physician off-hours at our community. The 24-hour seamless physician coverage will show our residents and their families that by leveraging the expertise of our own nurses with TripleCare’s telemedicine resource, residents are cared for by physicians and clinicians at all times,”

Michael Grimes, RN, LNHA, division director of clinical operations at Ohio Living, added: “Hospital readmissions can be very overwhelming and trying on residents. The implementation of TripleCare’s services takes us one step closer to avoiding this experience by treating residents in place during those times when hospital transfers would typically occur. We are pleased to be the first in Clinton County to bring 24×7 physician care to our residents’ bedsides and to share this new telemedicine capability with the local community we serve.”
