Villaggio At San Luis Obispo To Raise Bar For Life Plan Communities

March 28, 2017

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA–Villaggio at San Luis Obispo, a luxury-style Life Plan Community, is currently under planning and development in California’s world renowned Central Coast.

Named “The Happiest City in America” by Gallup-Healthways, San Luis Obispo’s Mediterranean climate, diverse cultural scene and world-class wine region makes it an ideal destination for the coastal county’s first Life Plan Community. From the vineyard-covered hills of Paso Robles to the salt-tinged coastal enclaves of Pismo Beach and Avilla Beach, San Luis Obispo’s appeal is as wide-ranging as its stunning geography.

The Mediterranean Village-designed community is the vision of architect Robert Richmond, Villaggio’s founder and its executive director of design and development. Set in a beautifully serene landscape, Villaggio will feature a centralized Village Plaza offering an open-air design with a Main Street, multiple restaurants, café, courtyard gathering places, and a full spectrum of amenities including a spa, swimming pool, wellness and fitness center, movie theatre, library, creative art studio and nearby biking and walking trails. In addition, there is a planned health center which will offer a full continuum of care that includes assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing.

Focusing on an enriching lifestyle and wellness throughout the community, Villaggio at San Luis Obispo will offer 350 premier residential living opportunities with majestic hillside views including villas, garden terraces, apartments and village suites. Residents will enjoy chef-prepared, farm-driven healthy California cuisine served in multiple dining venues. The community will also offer life-enrichment programming that includes education, recreational, entertainment and spiritual activities and events.

“Retirement is the time in one’s life to live each day fully and to choose activities for personal enjoyment that allows the human spirit to flourish,” said Ray Walters, executive director of residency, communications and enrichment for Villaggio.

“This dynamic concept underscores the nature of Villaggio at San Luis Obispo, truly an exceptional and innovative model for senior living, giving seniors more opportunities for living life to the fullest in an enriching, healthy and secure lifestyle,” he said.

The proposed community will offer an attractive financial plan that will provide a one-time 75 percent repayable entrance payment. A monthly fee will pay for the costs of residency, services and all programming.

The entrance fee will give residents lifetime use of their home and guarantees unlimited access to the community’s continuum of on-site health care, including resident-centered assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing. This program will be designed to protect residents against the costs of long-term care, providing a secured future.

Formerly referred to as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), a Life Plan Community enhances one’s current lifestyle, well-being and health while gaining peace of mind for putting a plan in place for a worry-free future.

Innovative Life Plan Communities today offer the opportunity to maintain and improve wellness, enjoy an abundant lifestyle and well-designed independent residences in an upscale, yet comfortable setting with multiple levels of care for residents as they age. A Life Plan Community is considered the highest standard among retirement living options.

Villaggio at San Luis Obispo will incorporate sustainable and energy-efficient design and materials to seek LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The development and marketing consultant for Villaggio at San Luis Obispo will be Life Care Services, the nation’s leader in high quality senior lifestyle services. RRM Design Group, one of California’s leading architectural, engineering and planning firms is the design architect for Villaggio.

Villaggio at San Luis Obispo is currently underway with its final design and entitlement process. Construction is expected to start in 2019. The Villaggio Information Center is located at 1503 Froom Ranch Way in San Luis Obispo.
