Amanda Cook Joins The Kenwood by Senior Star as Director of Nursing

CINCINATTI–The Kenwood by Senior Star, Cincinnati’s premier retirement community, recently welcomed Amanda Cook as its director of nursing.
Cook joins The Kenwood from Otterbein SeniorLife, where she served as the facility’s director of nursing. Prior to her role at Otterbein SeniorLife, she served as a unit manager at The Lodge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. In her new role, she will oversee the nursing program at The Kenwood by Senior Star, ensuring state and federal compliance, and will work with staff on delivery of The Kenwood’s five-star amenities and programs, with a focus on the operations and quality of the community’s Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing programs.

Over her 13 years in nursing management, she also helped design policies and procedures with hospitalist-lead algorithms, along with full integration of national programs designed to reduce patient re-hospitalization. Throughout her career as director of nursing, she has served as an integral part of the marketing team. Most recently, and up until now the most impactful, at the Otterbein SeniorLife, she attended and spoke at marketing events, provided facility tours, maintained hospitalist relationships and completed hospital assessments. In addition, she worked with the chief strategy officer and was recognized as a local preferred provider, and was integral in establishing new insurance contracts within the organization.
Cook holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ohio University, and is a registered nurse. In addition, she teaches nursing at Cincinnati State Community College and is completing modules for the Certified Professional in Aging Services Risk Management. She is also a consultant for Synurgy Strategic Advisors, as a Clinical Operations Advisor, where she collaborates with architects and design teams, offering a clinical point of view when building or redesigning health care facilities across the nation.
