Civitas and Accushield Team Up to Advance Safety and Security in Senior Living Communities

February 28, 2019

FORT WORTH, TX–Civitas Senior Living, a premier senior living management company based in Fort Worth, TX, announces a company‐wide partnership with Accushield, LLC, to provide visitor risk management systems in all of its senior living communities.

The Accushield system utilizes a touchscreen kiosk that allows for rapid sign‐in and sign‐out, badging of all visitors, and background checks for service providers. The partnership continues Civitas’s commitment to embracing innovation and provides the most secure environment for residents to age in place. Civitas plans to complete the installation of the Accushield system in the first quarter of 2019.

“We are committed to proactively implementing best practices in our communities and consistently evaluate ways to innovate. It is our job to keep our communities safe,” said Cooper Vittitow, President of Civitas. “We have been considering visitor management options for some time now. Accushield is a clear leader in their industry and have brought a new level of safety and technology to our communities. Implementing Accushield is the next step on the path to our goal: being the best—and, therefore, safest—senior living provider in the U.S.”

Operating a senior living community has many unique security challenges, one of which is knowing when Home Health providers sign‐in and deciphering what care is delivered to the resident. The Accushield visitor management system comes with an online Visitor Dashboard that gives management an easy way to create resident care reports based on activity from Private‐duty Caregivers, Home Health, and Hospice, etc. In fact, Gilbert Gutierrez, Executive Director at Midtowne Assisted Living and Memory Care said, “I’m going into the site now to look for the name of a Home Health nurse who visited with us yesterday.”

David Brown, Executive Director at The Ridglea Senior Living, has experienced the benefits of the Accushield system first‐hand.

“The new Accushield check‐in process has been very well‐received by our staff as well as our residents and their loved ones. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Brown. “Due to the name badges that the Accushield system provides, we can immediately know who is visiting our community and who hasn’t checked in. Through the use of the Accushield system, we will quickly enhance our reputation of having a higher level of security. This will, in turn, also help reduce the threat of someone entering our building to take advantage of or steal from a resident.”

Charles Mann, founder of Accushield, said, “Safety, security, and quality of care are top priorities for Accushield, and we believe that quality of life in senior housing begins with living in the most secure environment possible. The Accushield visitor management system helps senior living communities identify who is in the building at all times and ultimately adds a layer of security to this vulnerable living environment.”
