Construction Renovation Firm Established Exclusively for Seniors Housing

February 8, 2019

DALLAS, TX–Lucas McCurdy, co-creator of Bridge The Gap Podcast, has founded The Bridge Group Construction based in Dallas. Widely known as “The Senior Living Fan,” McCurdy has directed his passion for aging adults and the communities they live in to develop the industry’s first renovation and construction company dedicated solely to the senior living industry.

Texas native McCurdy has chosen to return to the state to serve its large aging population who are in need of beautiful communities in which to live. The Bridge Group will work exclusively in senior living communities, including assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, independent living, Continuing Care Retirement Communities and Life Plan Communities. The company specializes in renovation, interior remodeling, rehab, repositioning, cap-ex, value add, exterior rehab, acquisitions and project management.

“The demand for seniors housing is growing drastically due to the demographics of boomers aging into the marketplace. The inventory of legacy communities needs to be updated to meet demand, as well as become marketable in a competitive industry,” said McCurdy. “There has become a great need for a renovation company founded on the premise of knowing the nuances of seniors housing. A company dedicated exclusively to meet the needs of owners and operators will streamline the renovation process by eliminating the learning curve.”

The Bridge Group has assembled a team of professionals who are passionate about our aging population and the communities in which they live, defining a company culture of deploying empathy and stewardship through their vast experiences.

The company will focus on Texas properties for now with an eye to grow strategically. According to NIC map data, 79% of Senior Living communities in the nation are greater than 10 years old, with 32% of inventory over the 25-year mark.

“Owners and operators deserve better options from their construction partners specifically when it comes to renovating an open and operating community. This is their home, and they deserve to be treated with respect and dignity by everyone who steps into that building, especially a general contractor,” said McCurdy, who has become a strong voice and advocate in the senior living industry.

“It’s a huge compliment when we leave a community, and the residents thank us for our work and for respecting their home. At its core, The Bridge Group does build bridges, through our relationships. Our partners have entrusted us with their communities and in return, we’re proud to be in touch with the industry’s needs and maintain a culture of stewardship, connectivity, empathy and passion through our talents in handling their investments and delivering safe, beautiful communities,” McCurdy added.

McCurdy has been working in the construction renovation space for over 10 years. Having previously worked in a number of other markets including hospitality and multi-family, the senior living industry has captured his love and attention. In late 2018, McCurdy amicably parted ways from his family’s business to pursue his full-time passion into seniors housing and launched his new company.

Active in the senior living industry including involvement in NIC, Argentum, Leading Age, ASHA and Environments For Aging, McCurdy was recently appointed to the NIC Future Leaders Council for a three-year term. Additionally, he can be heard weekly as the co-host of the senior living podcast, Bridge The Gap.
