Construction Underway on River Tower at Harbor’s Edge in Norfolk, Virginia

July 9, 2019

DALLAS–The acclaimed architecture firm three, known for “design that lifts the human spirit,” has announced the start of construction on River Tower at Harbor’s Edge in Norfolk, VA, a 24-story senior living project including apartments, assisted living, memory-care and skilled-care units, with appealing amenities.

A national leader in creating senior living buildings, Dallas-based three is the Design Architect for River Tower at Harbor’s Edge, which will add 147 waterfront units to the community when it opens in 2021. According to Neil Volder, CEO of Harbor’s Edge, more than 85 percent of the apartments are already reserved.

The schematic design of the upscale senior community is indicative of three’s work, which has earned wide acclaim for creating aspirational buildings with strong emotional connections.

“Contemporary in context, the scale and the tower’s harborside location combine to create desirable residential interiors that are open, personal, accessible and comfortable,” said Rockland Berg, AIA, NCARB, principal of three. “Offering high-rise, urban living on the waterfront with these qualities is especially important for Harbor’s Edge.”

According to the Norfolk Pilot, the new, 265-foot-tall tower will be Norfolk’s second tallest building. The project’s contractor is W.M. Jordan of Newport News, and other project team members include the Architect and Engineer of Record, Clark Nexsen, and interior design by StudioSIX5.
