Edgehill Promotes Joyce Malone to Harbor Care Director

STAMFORD, CT–Edgehill senior living community in Stamford has promoted Joyce Malone to director of Harbor Care, the community’s memory care neighborhood. Previously, Malone was a lifestyle coordinator, assisting with the creation of programs and activities for residents across all levels of living.
“Starting at Edgehill as a lifestyle coordinator was wonderful,” said Malone. “I had the opportunity to develop relationships with the residents and get to know the team. Going into this new role, I feel more confident as I’ve already established that connection that allows me to understand the needs of residents and I have a great team by my side.”
Malone joined the Edgehill team after seven years with Sunrise Senior Living, where she started as a lifestyle coordinator and left as the director of memory care. Previously, she worked on the executive staff at Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson where she developed programs and directed summer camp for 17 years. Girl Scouts reorganized and Malone decided it was time to move on to a different role. That’s when she discovered senior living.
“Entering the senior living industry was a happy accident,” said Malone. “I was looking for something new, and I stumbled upon the position at Sunrise. I’m so happy with the path I’ve taken. I absolutely love building friendships and working with the residents.”
Malone received a bachelor’s degree in communications from College of New Rochelle. In her new role, she will oversee a team provides care and activities for the memory care residents.
“I don’t want to reinvent the wheel, I want to make it spin a little differently,” said Malone. I don’t believe that as we age, things have to stop. Along with the team, we will be infusing more lively and creative activities to our programs.”
