HPS And ROi Announce Partnership Agreement

January 16, 2017

MIDDLEVILLE, MI–HPS, a group purchasing organization (GPO) with more than 3,600 members, including 144 acute care and 1,466 non-acute care facilities, in 20 states, has signed an agreement with Resource Optimization & Innovation (ROi), a provider-owned supply chain organization, for access to ROi’s comprehensive cost management and supply chain services. Through the 10-year agreement, effective January 13, 2017, ROi will serve as the exclusive GPO for HPS’ national contract portfolio.

In addition to its national contract portfolio, the agreement gives HPS members access to ROi’s complete slate of offerings, including strategic contracting and sourcing, utilization management, service line management, clinical and operational consulting, clinical and supply chain analytics, private label products and custom surgical packs.

“Our driving passion is in providing value to our members,” said Tom LaPres, president and chief executive officer, HPS. “When the opportunity to partner with ROi presented itself, and as we learned more about their company, their employees and how they operate, we had no doubt their mission and values aligned perfectly with HPS.

“Our core membership base is made up of organizations that have a direct impact on the communities they serve, like hospitals and senior living facilities, for example. The people who make up HPS and ROi understand this, and we all understand how important it is that we remain diligent in offering relevant, meaningful services now and in the future. We are certain this will be a great partnership for everyone involved.”

“Controlling costs is critical across the health care spectrum, as is the general nature of the support we provide, helping to reduce cost, shortening process time, dealing with regulations, and providing the necessary metrics groups need,” said Gary Easton, board chair, HPS. “To that end, ROi is a perfect match for us. But more important is that they, as experienced, provider-based supply chain operators, clearly appreciate the impact of the work we both do in the communities our members support. This new relationship will provide significant value across our footprint.”

“We are truly honored to be selected by HPS as a valued partner to collaboratively deliver HPS members with significant value beyond a traditional GPO relationship,” said Gene Kirtser, president and chief executive officer, ROi. “HPS’ well respected history and long-standing member relationships will greatly assist ROi as we work with HPS members and our industry peers to drive much needed transformation in health care through services created by providers for providers.”
