It’s a Bikini and Wet T-Shirt Contest Summer at Carolina Bay Senior-Living Community

August 8, 2024

WILMINGTON, NC — The first teenager to wear a bikini, which was introduced in 1946, would be in her 90s now. With the Dog Days of Summer upon us and bikinis on every beach, residents of Bradley Creek Health Center at Carolina Bay celebrated the once scandalous swimsuit with a “bikini contest.”

These bikinis, though, were made of cardboard and “modeled” by lady residents — and a resident man who joined in the fun by making a “Speedo” with “six-pack abs.”

Bradley Creek Health Center provides assisted living, memory support, rehabilitation, and skilled-nursing care as part of Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall, a full-service luxury rental senior-living community located in in this city.

But that’s not the beginning and end of the “shocking” behavior among the residents at Bradley Creek Health Center, because several weeks ago they held a wet t-shirt contest. They toyed with the classic adult activity by hanging t-shirts on clotheslines and shooting water pistols at them, and the person who got their target soaked the fastest was the winner.

“The residents have really enjoyed these activities,” said Activities Director Meredith Mercer in a press release. “We had them listed on the calendar well ahead of time, so they had plenty of opportunity to talk and laugh about it in advance. We’ll definitely be doing these again!”
