Megan McGinnis to Continue to Lead Applewood Place, A Juniper Senior Living Community

June 11, 2018

Lakewood, CO–Juniper Communities is pleased to announce that Megan McGinnis will continue as executive director of Applewood Place, A Juniper Senior Living Community located in Lakewood. Juniper assumed management of the seniors housing community earlier this year. Applewood Place has 107 seniors housing apartments comprised of 65 assisted living units and 42 memory care units, accommodating about 110 residents.

“Megan McGinnis has proven herself to be an exceptional executive director who is able to inspire and lead the associates at Applewood Place,” said Lynne Katzmann, CEO and founder of Juniper Communities. “We welcome her remaining at the helm and look forward to gaining insight from her inspirational ways.”

McGinnis has worked in the seniors housing industry for more than 11 years as executive director, activities director, memory care director, and senior executive director. And, has a very personal connection to the industry.

“Both of my grandmothers suffered from dementia. I loved visiting them and interacting with them and their neighbors. It brought me a sense of purpose,” McGinnis said. “One grandmother lived in a poorly run community, and I wanted to get into the industry to make a difference. My other grandmother lived at Lakewood Reserve, now also A Juniper Care Place, and was able to live out her life with purpose, surrounded by people who really cared and had compassion for what they were doing.”

Her career success can be attributed to her style of leading by example, having a very open-door policy for associates, residents, and their families, and interacting with the residents all day long.

McGinnis holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. She and her husband have two children, ages 8 and 9. She is a huge sports fan and loves watching her children do gymnastics and baseball, and go camping.
