Staying in Touch in an Age of Social Distancing

“From the beginning of the pandemic, we knew that seniors would be most adversely affected but not just by the virus – the impact on our residents’ active lifestyles has been significant,” said Fran Bates, executive director for The Bellettini.
“Through creativity and a plethora of virtual and small group opportunities, we’ve kept residents active, but we are thrilled to now offer residents the ability to visit with family and friends in person,” added Bates.
Following public health guidelines, the community is offering scheduled, in-person visits seven days a week. All visitors complete a screening upon arrival that includes having their temperature taken, and must remain socially distant. The outdoor visiting area is complete with a plexiglass shield to help protect residents and visitors alike. Visitations are also spaced out to allow for the area to be cleaned and sanitized between appointments.
According to Bates, residents and their loved ones are taking full advantage of the space to reconnect in person, enjoying meals together, playing games and sharing photos and updates.
