The Blake: Senior Living Powerhouse Set for Record-breaking Growth

June 25, 2019

KINGSPORT, TN; FORT MILL, SC; and CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA–The Blake Management Group based in Jackson, MS, is set to open three new communities within the next month, setting record-breaking growth. The Blake will be expanding their regional footprint in the Southeast across Tennessee, South Carolina and Virginia simultaneously.

The Blake at Kingsport, The Blake at Baxter Village and The Blake at Charlottesville will all open their doors within the next 30 days. These communities will be between 90,000 to 110,000 square feet and will bring approximately 100 jobs to each of their markets. The Blake prides themselves on their unmatched independent living and assisted living communities with memory care services combined with compassionate care and hospitality. They attribute their recent growth to their current success in existing communities.

“The Blake brand has been built over the past decade through new market development focused on underserved areas in the southeast. Our strategy starts with gorgeous communities and bringing unmatched services to seniors and their families,” said Jeremy Cole, CEO of Blake Management Group. “We are continuously looking for ways to improve not just our community designs and resident offerings, but also our ability to develop talent. We are just getting started in many ways and are very excited about what our future holds.”

In addition to their upcoming grand openings, The Blake Management Group also has several communities currently in development, setting a record as the fastest-growing senior living group in the region and well on their way to becoming a national presence centered on hospitality. Over the next year and a half, they will open two new locations in Texas, three in Florida, one in Louisiana and one in South Carolina.

“Expanding our portfolio creates opportunity for internal promotions as well as bringing on additional talent to the B.M.G. family. Our team fully encompasses our mission and values, while our paced growth has allowed us to career map our leaders for promotion and open the door to recruiting outside talent,” said Jessica Heck, Chief Strategy Officer. “Ultimately, we know that one of our greatest resources is the people we have leading our vision.”

The Blake Management Group has collaborated with their development partners: Cardinal Ventures, Quality Senior Living, AEW and LifeCare Properties to bring a specialized mix of services and amenities to all the new communities.  They partner with different providers to offer the latest technology. These partners include Vigil Call System, which alerts caretakers when a resident needs assistance; Accushield, which utilizes a touchscreen, badge printing tablet that streamlines the visitor sign-in process; and HeartLegacy, which provides video content between residents and their families.

“Our growth has largely been driven by our focus on providing a resort-level experience. We focus not on what residents are giving up, but what they’re getting. They are getting housekeeping and a maintenance-free environment, plus transportation services if they’d like, as well as an activity program that is full-time, seven days a week. Today’s older adults like to stay busy and active—so we offer trips to the ballet, the symphony, restaurants, dancing and casinos,” said Glenn Barclay, Co-Founder of Blake.

“As a result, The Blake communities are competitively priced, offering luxury living for an unbeatable cost and, perhaps most important, providing a place of comfort for the ones you love the most by making their next move their best move,” added Barclay.

With unmatched independent living, assisted living and memory care locations in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia, The Blake blends Southern sensibilities with compassionate care.
