The Christian Village at Mason Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Worship Center and Auditorium

August 20, 2020

(Mason, OH)- Local Life Plan Community, The Christian Village at Mason (CVM), is thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of the Stone Worship Center and Auditorium (SWCA). The worship center will replace the existing chapel as the primary building for Sunday worship services and will provide a gathering place for residents, it is expected to be completed fall of 2021.

Before worship services transferred to a virtual setting due to COVID-19, residents and the greater community were exceeding capacity in the current chapel and restricted from future growth. The chapel, being the community’s only resident gathering space, also lacked adequate space for social events.

“The auditorium will become the community’s new Sunday worship center, expanding the current chapel capacity four-fold, and eliminating the need to have multiple weekly worship services for all who regard the Village as their church home,” Larry Monroe, CEO of Christian Village Communities, said.

The SWCA will honor Sam and his late wife, Gwen Stone, for lifelong Christian service. Sam served as a minister, professor, and Dean of the Graduate School at Cincinnati Christian University. Gwen worked beside Sam through their many years of ministry. Sam became a resident of The Christian Village at Mason shortly after his wife passed in 2014.

The Stone Center will be approximately 11,000 square feet including a spacious lobby and refreshment center and seating for nearly 400 people. The campaign raised $2 million from individual, church and corporate donors before the groundbreaking and aspires to reach their fundraising goal of $2.87 million before the SWCA is completed.

CVM plans for the Stone Center to also provide a gathering place for residents in the community for various events, banquets, concerts, performing arts, and meetings. “We are very anxious to see the completion of this beautiful new addition to our community,” said Monroe.
