Upscale Retirement Community Chooses ePIPE To Remedy Chronic Pinhole Leaks

July 20, 2017

SANTA ANA, CA–Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC, (PRT) makers of the ePIPE, Lead-Free Leak-Free™ and LeadSmart® product lines, recently completed a large project for a retirement community that was encountering chronic pinhole leaks, saving the property around $150,000 per year.

Soon after opening in 2004, The Covington, an upscale independent and assisted living facility located in Aliso Viejo, California, began experiencing pinhole leaks in its copper drinking water piping system. As time went on, the problem progressed to three to five leaks per week with repairs costing between $100,000 and $150,000 per year.

The Covington’s staff searched for a permanent solution for the pinhole leaks that would not disrupt the lives and special needs of their residents. The property chose ePIPE, a patented in-place pipe lining process that uses blown-in technology and has the fastest curing time available on the market in its industry.

“It’s been a really overall great experience, and the fact that a community like ours could have a team come in and do this in such a short period of time was a very positive experience,” The Covington’s Executive Director Krista Nay said.

The copper pipes within 131 units were restored using the ePIPE technology. All residents were able to remain in their units during the process and they all had their water back on every night. The property has also been LeadSmart certified.
