Wellington at Hershey’s Mill Starts Multimillion-Dollar Renovation

WEST CHESTER, PAWellington at Hershey’s Mill has announced plans for a major renovation project that will best position the community for the growing and dynamic population of older adults. Phase One of the multimillion-dollar project is already underway, which includes the performing arts center and hallways.

“This project will help position Wellington at Hershey’s Mill for continued success in the decades to come,” said Doug Buttner, executive director of the community. “We’re fully committed to investing in West Chester and making our community a place where residents and their families find a sense of security, first-rate amenities and hospitality to be the cornerstones of their experiences.”

The renovation includes every aspect of the community, including the independent living residences, dining room, auditorium, concierge, reception desk and the common areas. From new carpet and custom furniture to modern designs and finishes, the community will be upgraded to meet the needs of the growing population of older adults.

“The renovation will allow us to provide the atmosphere and amenities our residents expect, while also bringing new ideas and creativity to the table,” said Buttner. “We want to compete at the highest level when it comes to the restaurant and dining experience, hospitality, and providing seniors with engaging activities and opportunities to learn.”

Recent Census Bureau reports show more than 155,000 Chester County residents are already 55 years or older. About 15.8% of the population is age 65 or older, an 18% increase since 2012 in Chester County. With aging baby boomers, these numbers are expected to grow substantially over the next 10 years. This renovation project will enhance housing and wellness services for the senior population.

“These renovations emphasize the modern options and variety today’s seniors expect at a senior living community,” said Chris Golen, regional operations director for Benchmark Communities, parent company of Wellington at Hershey’s Mill. “The response by residents has been phenomenal, because we’ve kept the foundation of versatility within our community, while catering to new tastes and desires of the next generation of seniors.”

Wellington at Hershey’s Mill is a Benchmark Signature Living Community that offers independent living, personal care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.
